Explore this need in the finder →The BISSELL Little Green HydroSteam Pet 3618 adds actual steam-capable modes to a portable extractor. It deserves attention when compatible oily spots, upholstery refreshing or tile/grout tasks are part of the job. The useful detail is its mode-and-tool matrix: SteamWash, Steam and Wash are different arrangements, not one universal treatment.
SteamWash combines spray and steam
The official manual describes SteamWash Max Clean as spray plus steam, with appropriate tools for carpet, area rugs and upholstery. That is the relevant plan when a compatible oily or stuck-on stain calls for both functions. It does not establish that every surface and tool can receive that combined treatment.
The 3618 package lists a 5 inch Tough Stain tool and Multi-Surface tool. A shared manual also mentions tools that vary by model, including a 3 inch tool. We do not add every shared-manual accessory to this particular box. Confirm the supplied tools before using a mode that depends on one.
Steam and Wash serve different tasks
The manual's Steam arrangement identifies the 5 inch and Multi-Surface tools for permitted upholstery, drapes and tile/grout work. The Wash arrangement uses spray for carpet and area-rug stains. The manual distinguishes stain types as well as surfaces, rather than saying steam is preferable for everything.
This is why the finder keeps conditions in one operating plan. Requiring both a hard-surface steam arrangement and formula spray cannot be satisfied by combining Steam's surface permission with SteamWash's spray feature. If a requirement crosses those plans, verify the exact instruction rather than inventing a new combination.
Furniture suitability comes before steam
The manual requires checking the upholstery manufacturer's tag. It permits appropriately coded W or WS material and says not to proceed on the specified solvent-only or dry-clean-only references; missing or unclear tags require clarification. A product-page upholstery claim does not override that decision.
The machine also needs its steam startup sequence, including waiting for the ready light and priming as instructed. The manual notes that liquid can appear during initial or resumed steam use. Do not interpret Steam as a promise of perfectly dry output or immediate fabric drying.
Keep a suitable sink or bowl available for the instructed priming step, and allow time for that sequence when deciding whether a steam-capable portable fits a quick-cleanup routine. Its additional operating choices bring useful capability together with additional instructions to learn.
Portable capacity and reach
The current 3618 specification lists a 64 ounce clean tank, 51 ounce dirty tank, 15 foot cord, 4.8 foot hose and 13 lb machine weight. Those make it a different carrying and refill proposition from the 1400B. Water and recovered liquid increase the load, while each tank's actual fill limit still applies independently.
A portable hose and hand tool can suit stairs, furniture or a localized floor patch. They do not create the push-style room coverage of an upright. Measure the real path from the outlet and choose a permitted stable resting place for the base. A nominal hose length is not the same as straight-line reach around furniture.
Keep comparative and drying claims in context
BISSELL's performance percentage and upholstery-drying time are conditional manufacturer claims. The drying statement is specifically associated with Steam mode and new polyester testing. We do not apply it to every washed cushion, to SteamWash, or to the whole home. Airflow, material and moisture application still matter.
Choose 3618 when the additional supported steam arrangements serve real tasks and you will follow their surface and tool limits. Choose a plain portable when spray-and-extract work is enough. Choose an upright when room-scale carpet washing is the priority. We have not performed stain, steam-temperature, drying or reliability tests, and make no disinfection or medical claims.
