Explore this need in the finder →The BISSELL Little Green 1400B is a portable spray-and-extract cleaner for isolated carpet and upholstery stains. Its current US reference lists a 48 ounce clean tank, 15 foot cord and 9.65 lb machine weight. It makes sense when hand-tool cleaning matches the job and you are comfortable supplying and managing the cleaning solution yourself.
Exact model matters in a familiar family
Little Green is used across several BISSELL products. This review concerns 1400B, not a ProHeat, HydroSteam or differently supplied retail kit. The current page lists a 3 inch Tough Stain tool, spraying crevice tool and HydroRinse hose-cleaning tool. Confirm those pieces in the seller's actual package rather than assuming the broad family name establishes them.
The manual and support references list related models, but a compatibility list is not a guarantee of identical included equipment. A powered accessory available separately should not be treated as part of this box. The 1400B's useful identity is a corded portable with the documented hand tools and separate clean/recovery tanks.
Match a spot-cleaning routine
A small tool lets you work on a sofa arm, stair edge or localized carpet patch without pushing an upright around the room. You apply solution and extract through the hand tool, repeating the permitted sequence as directed. The same arrangement becomes laborious if you really want to wash a whole carpeted room regularly.
Furniture and rug compatibility still need checking. A manufacturer's general upholstery claim does not approve every fabric, backing or cushion filling. Read the care label, follow the machine's instructions and perform an appropriate inconspicuous check. Do not substitute household detergent for the compatible portable formula on the assumption that any foaming liquid is suitable.
A useful tank size, with independent recovery limits
The current product table confirms a 48 ounce clean tank. That puts it above the ordinary Spotless Mini's current 16 ounce clean capacity and below CleanSlate XL's 96 ounces. Those are refill differences, not evidence of which machine removes more soil. Your actual spot size and solution-use routine determine how often you refill.
Keep clean and recovered water separate, and follow the actual dirty tank's fill limit. The clean-water number does not establish how much extracted waste the recovery side can accept. Empty, rinse and dry the relevant parts after the job. A convenient tank capacity cannot remove that ownership task.
Resolve the hose discrepancy conservatively
The current page's descriptive paragraph says 4.5 feet of hose, while its specification field says 4 feet. Our finder uses 4 feet, the more conservative explicit value, and the review keeps the conflict visible. If the last six inches determine access to a car seat or stair, obtain confirmation for the actual unit.
The 15 foot cord is consistently stated. Plan where the base can rest and how the hose will bend around furniture; the cord and hose cannot be treated as a single unobstructed line. The stated 9.65 lb weight is for the machine, with solution and recovered water adding to what you carry.
Hot tap water is not a steam feature
BISSELL's current FAQ says to use hot tap water, not boiling water. That is not evidence of a steam-generation mode. If steam is essential, the separate HydroSteam 3618 has an actual mode and tool matrix to inspect. Do not infer it from the Little Green family name.
The 1400B is a useful portable shortlist option when its tool sizes, capacity and conservative reach fit. CleanSlate Pet provides a wider hand tool; CleanSlate XL extends documented tank and cord capacity; an upright addresses room carpet differently. We have not tested stain removal, drying or reliability, and do not adopt the manufacturer's social popularity as a performance score.
