Explore this need in the finder →The Hoover CleanSlate Pet FH14000V is a portable spot extractor with a wide hand tool and a hose-rinsing route. It is a useful direction for sofa spills, stairs and isolated carpet stains when a room-scale upright would be cumbersome. Its current 40 ounce clean-water specification and 15 foot cord make it a different proposition from the larger CleanSlate XL.
Hand-tool cleaning is the basic job
The current US package lists a 7 inch WidePath tool, Tight Spot tool, hose-rinse tool and trial solution. The wide tool can cover more of an isolated area per hand pass than a very narrow tool, while the tight tool addresses corners and crevices. Neither turns the portable into a machine that you push across a whole room.
Choose the task before the tool width. A sofa cushion, stair edge and small rug can require different access and moisture handling. Follow the material's care requirements and the cleaner's directions, including an appropriate colorfastness check. A general upholstery description is not approval for every fabric or filling.
Current tank figures deserve priority over an old title
The reviewed product table specifies a 40 ounce clean-water capacity and a 23 ounce dirty-water capacity. CleanSlate references from other periods or packages can carry different figures. Our assessment uses this current FH14000V table rather than applying a family-wide number. If refill capacity is essential, verify the exact listing and unit before ordering.
The two tank capacities are not interchangeable. You may need to empty recovered liquid before using every ounce from the clean side, depending on the job. Keep an eye on the actual fill limits. A larger clean reservoir would not remove the need to manage recovered water and debris.
Reach is about where the machine can sit
A 15 foot cord and 4.5 foot hose are explicitly listed. Those provide a starting point for planning a car or stair job. They do not create one continuous straight-line reach: bends, furniture, the location of the outlet and the safe position of the base all matter.
Consider where the machine will rest while you use both hands on a tool. Do not balance it on an unsuitable narrow surface to gain extra hose reach. For bigger portable sessions, the XL's 22 foot cord and 5 foot hose are worth comparing. That is a reach difference, not evidence of a superior stain-removal result.
Hose rinsing is useful after a pet mess
The included hose-rinse arrangement is intended to flush the recovery route after use. That can make cleanup easier to organize after dirty liquid passes through the hose. It is still necessary to empty the recovery tank, clean the relevant tool and follow the care instructions. “Self-cleaning” should not be read as “ready to store with waste inside.”
The page describes bristle and rubber-nub inserts for the cleaning tool. Choose them according to the instructions and the surface, rather than assuming one is gentler on every fabric. A pet label and supplied OXY formula do not promise that every old urine odor or discolored spot can be reversed.
Who should shortlist it?
FH14000V makes sense when portable, corded hand-tool cleaning matches the main workload and the documented tank/reach limits are enough. The smaller Spotless Mini reduces clean-tank capacity and cord reach. CleanSlate XL offers a larger clean tank for longer sessions. A SmartWash upright is the more relevant direction when cleaning entire carpeted rooms is the recurring task.
The source does not establish a steam mode or every carrying dimension, and we do not infer them. We have not tested suction, stain removal, drying or durability. This review compares the current documented package and the routine it requires.
