Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Is room-carpet cleaning documented for this model?
Yes. The model-indexed Power Scrub Elite manual describes its upright carpet washer, wash/rinse controls and carpet cleaning modes.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I require a supplied upholstery tool based on the Elite Pet name?
No. The carton list marks tools as varying by model; an upholstery package for this exact seller offer is not confirmed.
Explore this need in the finder →Does an “Elite Pet” name prove a dedicated pet tool is in this carton?
No. The manual identifies variable tools and does not establish the exact FH50251 package inclusion.
Explore this need in the finder →The Hoover Power Scrub Elite Pet FH50251 is an earlier upright carpet-washer identity, not a portable cleaner. Hoover’s U.S. manual index lists the exact FH50251 name. Its linked PDF address was not retrievable in the earlier source check, so this review preserves the distinction between the official model-index record and the saved 2016 Hoover-authored Power Scrub Elite manual copy. That manual explains the machine family’s routine, but it does not establish a current offer or an exact seller carton.
Two floor-cleaning modes, still a manual routine
The guide describes a push-style carpet cleaner with SpinScrub brushes, separate clean-water/solution and dirty-water sections, a wash/rinse selector, a trigger and a Quick/Deep Clean dial. The manual characterizes Quick Clean as a surface-cleaning routine and Deep Clean as the more thorough setting. It presents drying guidance as a manufacturer estimate, not a guarantee for every carpet, room temperature or number of passes. The dial gives you a choice of documented routines; it does not turn the machine into an automatic washer.
For the wash strokes, the manual directs you to press the solution trigger while moving forward and back. Releasing it changes the pass to dry extraction. Hoover also recommends a water-only rinse to remove residual solution. In practice, expect to manage both the trigger and the sequence of wet and dry movement, then empty the recovery tank when needed. Pre-vacuum loose dirt instead of treating a carpet washer as an ordinary dry vacuum.
“Pet” is not a package checklist
The manual’s carton contents list a hose, upholstery tool, stair tool, crevice tool, a 2-in-1 antimicrobial tool and a sample solution, but it marks the tools as varying by model. That caveat is the important buying detail: this FH50251 model identity does not tell us which optional pieces a particular carton or used listing includes. I do not recommend it on the assumption that an upholstery hand tool or a dedicated pet tool is supplied. The words “Elite Pet” alone do not resolve that uncertainty.
If upholstery is essential, check the exact item’s photographs, listing contents and manual/parts compatibility before purchase. The general Power Scrub Elite manual says upholstery should be marked W or S/W, not S-only, and calls for a hidden colorfastness test. Those are care rules, not an approval for every fabric. Keep the floor head on carpet: the instructions warn against use on hard floors. The model has no documented tile/grout steam mode, and hot or warm tap-water filling is not steam generation.
Keep the model and seller offer separate
The saved guide is a 72-page 2016 Hoover document, reference 961152042-R0, hosted by a retailer after the manufacturer manual link did not provide a usable file. The Hoover index remains the exact model-name source; the manual copy supplies operating guidance. Hoover’s current Power Scrub Elite nozzle parts page also lists FH50251 as a compatible model, but a replacement nozzle listing is not a complete cleaner offer, carton, current-stock signal or proof that another suffix shares its accessories.
No exact FH50251 cord length, machine weight, cleaning-path width, tank volume or package-specific tool set is established by these sources. Do not borrow those values from FH50250, FH50258 or another Power Scrub cleaner. The same caution applies to photo color and condition: the manual illustration helps identify the family but is not a picture of a seller’s actual machine. For a used offer, inspect the plate, tanks, brushes, hose, seals and cord, then confirm that the included parts match the job.
How your answers change the shortlist
Include earlier models and select upright room cleaning to see FH50251 as a supported carpet-washing reference. It should drop out if you require portable handling, steam-only tile/grout cleaning, automatic forward/back liquid switching, a verified tank threshold, or a confirmed dedicated pet tool. A need for included upholstery also should not pass on this evidence: the matcher treats unknown tool inclusion as not meeting an essential requirement.
If an included upholstery route is non-negotiable, compare the manual-listed package for Pro Clean Pet FH51010 or the Dual Power Max Pet FH54010, whose manuals name an upholstery tool in the contents. For the separate current-suffix review, read Power Scrub FH50150V; do not transfer its offer facts to FH50251.
