Cleaning modes and materials
ProHeat, carpet steam and upholstery steam are different jobs
A heated name does not tell you what reaches the fabric. Compare the actual heating method, the selected mode and the supplied tool together. That separates an ordinary warm-water extractor from a carpet steam washer and a portable hand-tool steam cleaner.
Need: ordinary extraction on carpet and washable furniture
The ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro Plus 3588F supplies an upright floor head and a pet upholstery tool. Its HeatWave feature helps maintain the warmth of water you supply. The product FAQ says it does not heat that water for you. This package is relevant when ordinary solution application and extraction cover the work, with no requirement for steam generation.
The 3587 exclusive package adds a different tool selection and a longer listed hose. Those are practical reasons to compare the exact packages. The extra attachments do not turn ProHeat into a steam cleaner. Check the carton list rather than choosing from a photograph of a related Revolution bundle.
Need: steam and formula through a carpet floor head
The Revolution HydroSteam 34249 clearly documents steam, water and formula together in SteamWash Max. It is the upright comparison for a carpet-cleaning job that permits that method. Its separate Steam Pretreat setting applies steam with the brushes and suction off before the cleaning stage. The guide excludes blood and urine from steam pretreatment, so select a method for the actual mess rather than the pet branding.
That machine also supports hand-tool cleaning, but its guide expressly says steam does not travel through the hose. Choose it for carpet SteamWash plus separate compatible upholstery washing. A requirement for steam on upholstery is a different request and is not met by joining the floor mode to the hose attachment.
Need: a portable hand tool using steam
The Little Green HydroSteam 3618 has its own mode-and-tool instructions. It supports SteamWash with the appropriate tool on permitted upholstery, unlike the upright's explicitly non-steam hose. It also has a separate Steam arrangement for supported work with the supplied multi-surface tool. Tile/grout permission belongs to that arrangement; it is not permission to combine formula spray and every hard surface.
Its portable format is useful for localized work, but a hand tool does not provide the upright floor head you push across rooms. Decide whether the recurring task is a whole carpet or a cushion-sized spot. The same word HydroSteam on the two machines does not make their coverage, tools or surface permissions interchangeable.
Keep drying and cleaning requirements separate
A quick mode can reduce the scope of cleaning as well as change drying expectations. ProHeat's Express routine and the upright HydroSteam's Quick Dry routine are not promises that every deep-cleaning session finishes dry in roughly 30 minutes. Follow the exact passes, allow for the carpet and room conditions, and keep traffic off until dry.
The 34249 guide's Quick Dry paragraph also has inconsistent steam wording. Use the clearly established SteamWash mode when combined carpet steam/formula is essential; confirm the exact setting if avoiding steam matters. Never decide the operating method from an advertised drying time alone.
Check the material before the mechanism
Start with the carpet or fabric maker's care instructions, including filling, backing and trims, and test as directed. Choose ProHeat for permitted ordinary extraction, the upright HydroSteam for permitted carpet steam washing, or the portable HydroSteam for its documented localized tool methods. If the material excludes the method, a more elaborate cleaner does not solve that restriction.
