Portable cleaner choices
Choose a heater, SmartMix or cordless access for the job
Portable cleaner choices
A small spot cleaner can reduce carrying weight, measure cleaning solution automatically, heat liquid or operate away from an outlet. Those are separate benefits. Start with the part of your actual routine that causes trouble, then check the exact model number: Little Green names cover substantially different tanks, tools and power systems.
Heating liquid and generating steam solve different jobs
The Little Green ProHeat Pet 3969 has an integrated liquid heater. Its instructions include a readiness period and clearing retained water from the hose before applying heated solution. That is useful when a compatible fabric and mess permit heated extraction. It does not turn the hand tool into a steam nozzle. The 9.7-pound dry body, 32-ounce clean tank and 27-ounce dirty tank also mean that heater selection does not remove ordinary filling, recovery and cleanup work.
By comparison, the Max Pet 3860 expressly has no internal heater. You supply water at the temperature its instructions allow. Its 8.2-pound dry weight and nominal 32-ounce tanks may be a more useful balance if heating is unnecessary. Both machines still need slow hand-guided passes; neither automates cleaning because the product name contains Pet.
The HydroSteam Exclusive 3605F offers a different set of routes. SteamWash combines steam and solution for permitted soft surfaces; Steam Only has its own material permissions and tool requirements; ordinary Wash remains separate. Its included multi-surface tool does not make every surface suitable for steam. Check the furniture care label, manufacturer instructions and mess restrictions before choosing a mode. Upright HydroSteam machines also differ: their carpet-head steam does not travel through the upholstery hose.
Choose SmartMix when measuring is the problem
The Max Pet SmartMix 38572 automatically proportions water and formula in its cleaning selection. Water-only Rinse is a separate setting. This can simplify preparation when a household member struggles with repeated premixing, but you still fill the correct compartments, move the tool and empty the dirty tank. A capacity headline is not permission to pour a full tank of concentrate.
If both heating and automatic proportioning are essential, the ProHeat SmartMix 3935 combines them in its solution-cleaning route. It has the same stated 9.7-pound dry weight as 3969, but the exact packages differ. The 3969 pet-hair tool and hose measurement should not be assumed for 3935. Choose 3969 for its documented pet-tool package and reach, or 3935 for the heater-plus-mixing combination when its confirmed equipment is sufficient.
Cordless access changes the power routine
The Cordless 3682 supplies a four-foot hose and HydroRinse tool. It requires manual solution preparation and cannot operate while charging. The guide's Standard and BatteryBoost+ duration claims use different conditions; BatteryBoost+ includes intermittent surface contact. Plan charging around the job instead of treating the longest runtime headline as continuous full-power extraction.
The Cordless SmartMix 3682L combines battery operation with automatic proportioning. It is not simply 3682 with a different color: its documented dirty-tank capacity differs, and exact hose reach and hose-rinse accessory inclusion remain unconfirmed. Pick it when both cordless access and SmartMix matter. If hose reach is essential, confirm that exact carton before purchase or use a model with published reach.
Three practical starting points
For a compatible pet-stained chair near an outlet, 3969 provides documented heated-liquid extraction and a named pet-hair tool. For frequent small jobs where measuring solution causes the most friction, 38572 provides SmartMix in a lighter corded package. For a car parked beyond convenient outlet reach, 3682 provides documented cordless operation, four-foot hose and hose-cleanout accessory; 3682L adds automatic mixing when its unresolved reach is not a hard requirement.
After choosing the route, check carrying weight with liquid, recovery capacity, tool access around the stain and space for drying components. A rinse selector, a hose-cleanout attachment and a removable debris tray perform different tasks. None replaces emptying, washing and air-drying the recovery assembly after use.
