The copper Shark CarpetForce HairPro EX551 is a compact upright for washing compatible carpet and area rugs. Its appeal is a simpler floor-focused package with HairPro and PowerFins brushroll features, rather than a hose-equipped machine for furniture. Choose it because the floor washer fits the work you need to do; the removable wand in its description does not create an upholstery-cleaning attachment.

A floor-only machine can be the practical choice

If the regular job is a carpeted bedroom or a hallway traffic lane, an upright floor head is easier to organize into overlapping passes than a small hand tool. EX551 keeps the equipment focused on that job. You can plan the room, move obstacles and work toward an exit without managing a separate upholstery hose around the body.

The compromise becomes clear on stairs and cushions. The manufacturer comparison identifies above-floor cleaning as not included for the CarpetForce family, and the exact copper carton names the upright with removable wand and a starter bottle of Deep Clean Ultra formula. There is no supplied furniture tool in that list. A household that needs a single machine for rooms and a sofa should compare CarpetXpert or budget space for a separate portable.

Deep Clean and Express Clean serve different priorities

EX551 offers Deep Clean and Express Clean selections. The first is the fuller carpet-washing route; the second is intended for a quicker refresh with a different drying-time tradeoff. A mode choice lets you match the session to the job, but it does not detect every stain, select a fabric-safe treatment or guarantee a particular time until the room can be used.

Shark's faster-drying claim compares Express Clean with this machine's Deep Clean mode. It should not be read as a promise that EX551 dries twice as fast as another brand in your home. Carpet thickness, room conditions and how much liquid you apply still matter. Avoid planning a full wash immediately before the room must take normal traffic.

HairPro is relevant to the brushroll, not an included pet hose tool

The HairPro and PowerFins descriptions concern the floor-cleaning system's handling of embedded hair and contact with carpet. They are useful reasons to compare EX551 with the ordinary CarpetForce EX502. They do not establish that a dedicated hand-held Pet Mess Extractor comes in the copper box, and they do not remove the need to inspect and clean collected hair after a session.

Pet stains also require material and mess checks. The official page excludes wool. A pet-friendly household can still own a delicate rug or furniture that must not be wet cleaned. Check the care instructions before selecting a machine, and do not treat a formula's odor claim as permission to saturate an unsuitable surface.

Check the exact copper configuration

The EX551 product table lists 15.21 pounds, while the shared comparison displays 14.7 pounds. Use 15.21 pounds when deciding whether you can carry it, before adding liquid. The listed dimensions are 12.87 by 10.39 by 43.66 inches. The removable wand can help with storage, but those operating dimensions do not establish a particular reduced storage height.

The black-teal EX553BRN is a related HairPro offer, with a storage tray explicitly listed in its box. The copper EX551 box does not list that tray, and the current pages also show different warranty terms. A finish choice therefore deserves an exact package check instead of assuming every related model includes the same extras. Neither a storage tray nor a removable wand proves an active self-cleaning cycle.

Choose it for the right room

EX551 is a sensible candidate for floor-only carpet work when its stated weight and compact body are manageable and hair handling matters. Choose EX502 when the ordinary CarpetForce floor-cleaning arrangement is sufficient. Choose EX553BRN if the exact black-teal package and included storage tray suit you better. For room carpet plus suitable upholstery, the EX301 adds a confirmed hose and hand-tool package, with a greater carrying and cleanup burden.
