Choose the cleaning format
Shark floor washer, hose cleaner or cordless handheld?
Match the layout to the mess
A carpet washer's layout determines how you will actually use it. Shark's current range includes floor-only uprights, uprights with a stain-cleaning hose, portable hose extractors, a direct cordless handheld and a portable wet/dry pickup system. A pet-related name or a large stain-fighting number does not make those formats interchangeable.
For room carpet, start with the floor head
The CarpetForce EX502 provides Deep Clean and Express Clean in a floor-focused upright. It suits a household that needs to wash compatible carpeted rooms and already has another solution for furniture stains. Its removable wand does not create an upholstery hose.
The copper HairPro EX551 and black-teal EX553BRN add the hair-oriented PowerFins description in a related floor-only format. Their exact boxes differ: the black-teal offer explicitly includes a storage tray. A tray for parking is different from an active floor-head self-cleaning cycle.
For one package covering rooms and a sofa, add the hose
CarpetXpert EX201 combines a ten-inch floor head with supplied hand tools. Its current base box names a seven-inch Wide Path Tool; the EX201B bundle names a Pet Tool instead and adds a larger formula bottle. Choose around the attachment you need, then check the exact carton.
HairPro EX301 adds a documented hair attachment and onboard Rinse & Go. The EX301B bundle also names a Pet Mess Extractor, while the current base list names an XL tool. A hair attachment and a wet-mess collection attachment serve different purposes and have different cleanup steps.
In CarpetXpert, the forward floor pass dispenses the prescribed carpet mixture and the backward pass extracts without fresh spray. The OXY reservoir contributes during hand-tool cleaning. Automatic floor dispensing does not put the hand-tool chemistry through the floor head, and it does not move or steer the machine.
For occasional furniture spots, a portable can be enough
The StainStriker PX201 supplies a portable hose layout with a published 4.3-foot hose and twelve-foot cord. Its current written box names a wide stain tool. PX251 instead supplies a Hair Extractor and lists a 4.5-foot hose. That is a specific tool-and-reach comparison, not a reason to assume every attachment is included in both boxes.
Either portable avoids the upright floor assembly, but neither provides a broad push-style carpet-washing head. Treating a whole room with a hand tool involves repeated kneeling, overlap and repositioning. Choose a portable when the actual workload is localized.
Separate cordless access from dry pickup
StainForce HX101 is a direct cordless handheld with a separate spray bottle. There is no extraction hose to meet a minimum reach requirement. Its listed fifteen-minute battery life and five-hour charge make it a different ownership routine from a corded portable.
EveryMess VX101 provides separate ordinary dry pickup, wet pickup and stain treatment, with a twenty-foot cord. It is the relevant comparison when crumbs and liquid spills matter alongside stains. The external spray bottle mixes the two cleaning components at application; that is different from a SmartMix system proportioning concentrate with water inside the cleaner.
Before choosing the exact offer
Resolve carrying weight, material permission and included tools first. Several current pages contain conflicting weight figures; use the conservative value until the exact assembly is confirmed. Shark's upright pages exclude wool. Keep cleaning modes separate, allow the recovery components to dry, and compare the actual model number instead of borrowing a related package's measurements or accessories.
